15, 2010 - Prestige '97 Girls Gold
Crowned Davis Legacy College Showcase Champs -
The numbers - 5 games played, 16 goals for, 1 goal
against, 3 days, 100+ degrees heat - gives a glimpse of
the weekend, but doesn't tell the entire story. This
cohesive team has endured a great deal of hardship in
the past couple of months - 3 friends/teammates down due
to serious injury and a loss of a long-term coach.
There's one thing however, that this team did not lose -
their drive and will.

4, 2010 - Placer United U-13 Girls
Gold - Finalist at Stanford Memorial Day Tournament -
The U-13 Girls Gold team had an awesome showing
at the first tournament of their season. The girls
played up 1 age group in this tournament and by the way
they played and performed you would have never been able
to tell. Overcoming all of the obstacles that playing up
represents, the girls were awesome matching their
opponents in every facet of the game along the way.
The girls battled with Carson Valley to open the
tournament and coming up just short 3-2 however, anyone
watching that game would admit they deserved at least a
tie.
In the next two game the girls maxed out points handling
both Sagebrush 3-0 and Nevada Elite 7-0. The team
finished group play with 22 points putting them into the
final game.
In the Final game the girls met a very tough Santa Rosa
Blizzard team who are a very solid team in the U-14 age
group. The girls had an incredible showing in the Final
match. Solid in every area of the game Goal Keeping,
Defending and Attacking. It truly was a beautiful team
effort with every girl on the team contributing. The
girls were unbelievably composed in the Final coming up
just a bit short 1-0 on a penalty kick.
Congratulations to an awesome group of girls and a great
team!! |

28, 2010 - Keslie Cooper accepted
into United States Air Force Academy - "Next year
I will be attending the United States Air Force Academy
in Colorado Springs, Colorado. When I received my
appointment, I was both honored and ecstatic. Although
my four year Air Force experience will be drastically
different from a normal college lifestyle, I truly
believe that my long term gains are worth giving up
short term luxuries. I chose this sacrifice because I
honestly believe in the motto "service before self" and
hope to learn to live my life in accordance with the Air
Force values. When I graduate, I want to leave a better
person than I was the day I walked off the bus for my
first day of Basic Cadet Training, rather than a more
educated version of the person I am today. To top it all
off, soccer is what got me this opportunity and I am
thankful for all the challenges and experiences I had
due to playing with Placer United. I will be playing in
the Division 1 Mountain West conference, and am looking
forward to the challenges that will soon be presented to
me on the field. It was a long road to finally receive
my appointment, and it feels amazing to have reached
this milestone. Thanks Placer!!" |

April
20, 2010 - Erika Garcia verbally
commits to Harvard University - I chose Harvard
because a once in a lifetime opportunity like that
usually doesn't happen to a girl like me. I come from a
little town in Northern Nevada, and I am a part of the
first generation of my family that was born here in th
U.S. My parents are legalized immigrants from Mexico.
They came here 23 years ago with the hopes to have my
sister, my brother, and myself go to college to have an
easier and better life for ourselves. When I was younger
and playing soccer I was content with having good grades
and staying in Nevada for school... But, then came
Placer Soccer Club and huge doors were opened! Harvard
saw me and my coach, Ron, made everything a reality
instead of just a dream. I chose Harvard for my family,
for an outstanding education, for my club, and for
myself. |

looking forward to, Eric said "I am looking forward to
playing at the next level in the Pac 10. My biggest goal
in college soccer is to earn to starting spot and be in
the NCAA Tournament. Thanks again for everything you
have done for me to make me the best soccer player that
I can be and the person that I am!" |

21, 2009 - Placer
United 95 Girls Have Holiday Spirit The
Placer United 95 Girls Gold team decided to forgo their
annual Christmas party of exchanging gifts with each
other, and adopt a family in need. On Sunday, December
20 the girls all met at Walmart with shopping list in
hand and picked out items the family had listed as
needs, and wants. They spent about 1 1/2 hours choosing
wisely and then off to wrap and have a cookie exchange
with each other. It was such a great opportunity for the
girls to realize how little some families have and be
able to sacrifice their own time and money for someone
else.

the midst of trying economic times and competitive soccer carries a
hefty price tag. As I contemplated this question over the course of
several weeks I came to a very strong, simple and emphatic conclusion:
"Yes!" As part of that conclusion I developed 9.5 reasons for my answer.

July 28, 2008 - US Club Soccer
National Championship Update - The Placer United 93
Gold, U16 girls are advancing to the US Club Soccer National
Championship final. It’s been an incredible two days for the 93 Gold.
They are in Virginia Beach, Virginia competing in the National
Championships, Super Group. Placer advanced to the National Championship
after winning the Regionals in Modesto.
The girls have faced two teams from New Jersey. Both teams won their
respective regional championships. In their first game the G93 beat the
Twin County Crew 1-0. In their second game the girls faced Montclair
United. The Montclair Thunderbolts are ranked 10th in the Nation.
Placer United faced the wind in the first half. Coach Ron Benjamin had
the girls play a low pressure, defensive first half. This was clearly
frustrating the high powered offense of the Montclair Thunderbolts.
Placer held on playing impenetrable defense and attacking as
opportunities presented themselves.
In the second half, with the wind at their backs, Ron put the girls on
the attack. The game really opened up with heart stopping scoring
opportunities from both teams. With eight minutes to go, Placer United
scored. Ron Benjamin put the girls back into low pressure to protect the
lead.
Montclair is not the kind of team to give up and they went on the
attack. The G93 defense had to dig deep and find the strength to win.
They did. Although Placer United still faces the Bridlemile Daredevils
from Oregon tomorrow, they have mathematically already advanced to the
finals.
They play Bridlemile tomorrow at 8 am EDT and the finals on Tuesday at 8
am EDT. Follow along at

June 25, 2008 - 96 Boys Black Cal Cup
Finalists – Placer’s
96 Boys Black team survived stiff competition, plus extreme heat last
weekend to reach the finals of the California Cup Tournament. They
battled the ACC Mavericks Eagles into overtime before falling 3-2 in the
championship game. After playing two games Friday, the Placer boys had
to come back on Saturday in 100+ degree heat to finish bracket play and
qualify for the semi-finals. With a few of the players suffering
heat-related issues, Placer earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Elk
Grove to secure a spot in the final. Sunday morning’s final started
ominously with Placer quickly falling behind 2-0. But just as quickly
they battled back to a 2-2 tie at the half. After a back-and-forth 30
minutes, the second half ended tied 2-2 to send the game into overtime.
Although the team just missed the championship, the team earned the
respect of many area teams and sent the message that the Placer 96 Boys
Black team is a force to be reckoned with!
