Message to the Members of Placer United Soccer Club

Dear Placer United Families:

I am writing to you as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Placer United. As you may be aware, there have been rumors circulating through social media and other venues over the last two days regarding Board related matters. Unfortunately, there was also the unauthorized defacement of our logo on a community Facebook page of Placer United, which altered the Placer United website and contained messaging that detracts from the mission of our Club. I am also disturbed by the postings from an anonymous author of unsubstantiated rumors regarding individuals. It is unfortunate that this has taken on a life of its own.

The Board of Placer United reviews all matters with the goal of doing what is in the best interest of Placer United and its members. The Board takes its role seriously and is expected to handle any sensitive situation confidentially. To the extent there are valid issues on any topic, the Board will work to resolve them in a fair and equitable manner to all involved.

Placer United is one of the top soccer clubs in Northern California. We have many milestones and accomplishments to celebrate, including the opening of the Placer United Indoor Training Center, sending players off to college to pursue their passion at the next level, and the continued development and success of players and teams throughout the Club.

Thank you for continuing to support the players, coaches, volunteers and mission of Placer United. Let us all work together to create a fun, competitive and exciting soccer experience for our players.

Sincerely,

Brad Tooker, Board Chair

Rachell Sloss Transfers to CSU East Bay

“Starting in the Fall of 2012, I received a scholarship to play at
California State University at East Bay as a defensive center
midfielder under former CSU East Bay player Amy Gerace. I am a
sophomore transfer from Sierra College, and I’m excited for this
opportunity to play at a higher level. What I loved most about East
Bay was the competitiveness of the soccer program and the quality of
the school’s psychology program. The campus and soccer field were very
impressive as well, and I look forward to making an impact on their soccer program.

My journey with competitive soccer and playing one year for Jason
Gantt at Sierra College have both shaped me into the player I am
today, and made it possible for me to be a part of a more competitive
soccer program. I first came to Placer United as a member of the U14 Gold
team. My experience with the club has impacted my life in
indescribable ways. Placer United taught me the value of teamwork,
coachability, and respect for the game. I would like to thank my
teammates, and coaches Gene Duchateau, Todd Decarlo, Jason Gantt, and
Ron Benjamin for helping me to become a better soccer player. I would
especially like to thank Ron Benjamin for pushing me to my limits and
for being incredibly supportive through all obstacles I faced in my
soccer career. I will never forget all the wonderful memories and
accomplishments I made with my teammates throughout my journey with
Placer United and in my first year of college ball. I thank you all
for helping me to reach this next big step in my career!

U14G Premier Advances to State Cup Silver Bracket Quarter Finals

Placer United U14G Premier had to travel to Morgan Hill this past weekend for NorCal State Cup round of 16. They played West Coast SC of Livermore. After a slow start and some timid defending, the girls found themselves 0-2 at halftime. The team rallied in the second half and goals from Sierra Palmquist and Claire Norris brought the game back level at 2-2. The game went into extra time with the golden goal rule. The first part of extra time went by quickly and Placer was indebted to Goalkeeper Alyssa Leaman for making a fine save to keep it level. In the second half of extra time, Hailey LaCoste’s through ball sent Claire Norris clear to score and put the girls through to the quarter finals with a 3-2 game result!

On Sunday, the U14 played a quarter final game versus Sonoma County Alliance. Placer started very bright and created several good opportunities to score. Claire Norris continued her great goalscoring form all season, bundled in the opener to make it 1-0 Placer. This seemed to inspire the opponents and they replied with 2 quick goals to find Placer trailing 1-2. But just before the break, Hailey LaCoste coolly slotted home a penalty to make it 2-2 at halftime. The second half was even for periods but Norris got her 2nd goal of the game, racing on to Aly Barr’s well weighted pass to make it 3-2 Placer. With time running out, the win was sealed when Megan Williams scored with a few minutes remaining to ensure a 4-2 win.

Placer moves on to play in the semi finals versus North Bay Elite on May 5th at Turlock Sports Complex.

Well done girls!
